Colon Cancer Risk Fourfold Higher in Obese Women
 (Orlando, Reuters Health, 11/1/04)

Based on data from 2300 colonoscopies performed on 1050 women, Dr. Joseph Anderson of the State University of New York at Stony Brook reports that obese women have four times the risk of developing colorectal cancer than their normal-weight peers. Anderson concludes that obesity may be used as a marker to identify high risk individuals for screening.
