Eating
Breakfast May Stave Off Obesity, Diabetes
(NY, Reuters Health, 3/6/03)
Dr. Mark A. Pereira of Children's Hospital and Harvard
Medical School in Boston, and team, kept track of the
lifestyle habits and health status of 2,681 young adults for 8
years. The researchers found that subjects who regularly ate
breakfast 3 or more times per week were less likely to be
obese or insulin resistant compared to those who did not.
Furthermore, this risk reduction was associated with a morning
meal of whole grains, but not refined grains. |
