1/3 Of Americans Have Pre-Diabetes Syndrome
 (Washington, Reuters Health, 8/27/02)

Experts from the American College of Endocrinology, American Association of Endocrinologists, American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians have expressed concern over the sharp rise in insulin resistance syndrome, which is characterized by the body's inability to properly utilize insulin. Also known as Syndrome X, the condition is reaching epidemic proportions in both adults and children, as Americans eat more and exercise less. The syndrome can usually be reversed by proper diet and physical activity, but will lead to diabetes, heart disease and other life-threatening diseases when left untreated.
