Health Information for People On-the-Go
If “knowledge is power,” then why don’t media reports of
medical advances and expert advice empower us to be wiser,
stronger and healthier? Why, despite the incessant health
chatter, are obesity and preventable chronic illnesses rampant
in the modern world?
Wellness information is everywhere. Unfortunately, at one
extreme, it is obscured by tech talk and; at the other, it is
oversimplified into fragmented sound bites or, worse,
distorted by promoters pitching products. More confusing yet,
are the contradictory headlines…Chocolate is Toxic; Chocolate
Heals. Soybeans Block Cancer; Soybeans are Harmful. The
barrage of mixed messages is enough to send us running to seek
refuge in our bad habits. Pass the potato chips, please.
Health News Express condenses news reports into concise
plain-English summaries that you can understand; maintains
archives for quick reference; and provides “overviews” that
organize news stories by topic. Plain and simple
HNE will soon be adding tools to help you navigate through
the glut of health material, including links to reference
pages and a glossary of common medical terms, as well as
explanations of how the scientific method works, guidelines
for interpreting news stories and strategies for doing medical
research on the Net. |
